I just noticed on the way back from my Power Yoga class this morning, but I haven’t been writing any food post recently.
Not a surprise though, considering how less creative I am getting with my food these days. Just sticking to the same old. Not that that’s necessarily bad, because I’m the sort of person who likes routine, and I tend to stick to what I like.
However, anybody could get food addiction or food allergy from eating the same thing repeatedly all the time. I try to balance out the nutrients I take in my diet, but it’s not always possible to have a perfect balance from just eating the same kinds of food. For example, even if I think that I’m eating the right amounts of carbs, proteins and fats, with vitamins, minerals, fibre, etc., there are various kinds of amino acids that are essential for human being and it’s not as easy to get all of them into my body if I am not eating a wide variety of food (there are also many types of carbohydrates, fats and so on).
On that note, I’ve heard that eggs contain all of the essential amino acids that us humans need. Many health conscious individuals tend to only eat the whites of their eggs – to control their intake of fat and total calories – but the egg yolks have precious nutrients that are just not available by eating only the egg whites. Some may say that they avoid egg yolks to control their cholesterol, but eating egg yolks does not directly lead to high blood cholesterol level. It’s far more important to avoid bad fats and cholesterol in order to stay healthy. Now before I begin to sound like an egg ambassador (if I haven’t already), I’m not saying it is for everyone. I mean, some people may just prefer to get those amino acids from other food, or even supplements. Some may just want to lose weight in a short period of time, hence putting more importance to their total calorie intake rather than what their body needs. Others may just simply be allergic to eggs, or maybe they don’t like the way they taste. Or maybe they’re vegetarian. There could be an unlimited number of reason for why someone wouldn’t want to eat eggs. But I just wanted to clear out some misconceptions that people often have about eggs. Oh, and let’s not forget, they’re cheaper than all those health food too!!!
